Big one. What v1.8.1 started with Handstand, v1.9.0 finishes for every skill in the catalog. All 11 Skill Focus Splits now run on the adaptive rung engine — the same engine that has powered Foundations since v1.7. And the calibration tests that decide where you start got a full redesign: 10 dedicated calibrations, each with 3-4 unique tests measuring strength, mobility, grip and load separately.
Every skill runs on rungs now
Muscle-Up. Planche. Front Lever. Back Lever. Press to Handstand. Elbow Planche. Human Flag. Hefesto. One-Arm Pull-Up. V-Sit / Manna. And Handstand from before. Every one of the 11 Skill Focus Splits now resolves each session against your current rung on that skill plus your universal push/pull/squat/hinge/core rungs — no more hardcoded "L1 to L5" tiers, no more picking a level and hoping it matches your actual capability.
Concretely: pick Planche as your focus, open the day's session, and the main planche slot is exactly the rung you're currently on — Straddle Planche Lean if that's where calibration placed you, Tuck Planche if you've bumped past that, Straddle Planche Hold if you're higher still. Crush the top of the rep or hold range for every set with form intact for two sessions in a row, and next session bumps you up. Zero manual level-picking. The 5-day rotation is the constant. The difficulty is you.
The same rung engine drives the level-below and level-above satellites: the accessory push work in your Planche split scales to your push rung; the pulling accessories scale to your pull rung. Same session shape, tuned to your body.
10 dedicated calibrations, each with unique tests
Alongside the rung rollout, we redesigned every skill calibration. Old calibrations often stacked 3-4 hold-progressions of the same movement — Tuck → Advanced Tuck → Straddle → Full — which tells us your strength but nothing else. The new ones combine tests that measure different biomechanical components so the app knows why you're at your current tier.
Press to Handstand Calibration — Wall Walks (entry-level dynamic), Pike Press to Handstand (press strength), Negative Press to Handstand (eccentric control), Pancake Compression Depth (flexibility gate). Without pancake mobility, you don't get seeded to stalder/straddle-press rungs even if the push strength is there.
Hefesto Calibration — Back Lever Pulls (specific lever strength), Band-Assisted Hefesto (progression-with-help), Weighted Chin-Up (underlying supinated pull load), Slow Negative (eccentric control). The weighted chin-up captures raw supinated pulling power independent of your back-lever lever position.
Human Flag Calibration — Vertical Pole Support Hold (grip + oblique base without any flag lever), Assisted Human Flag, Tuck Flag, Straddle Flag. The pole hold is the base-signal — the app measures whether you can even hold onto a vertical pole with obliques engaged before it starts prescribing flag work.
Elbow Planche Calibration — Forearm Planche Lean, Tuck, Straddle, plus Forearm Planche Push-Ups. The push-ups add a dynamic rep signal to the three static holds — captures whether you have concentric force production, not just isometric hold time.
One-Arm Pull-Up Calibration — Typewriter Pull-Ups, Archer Pull-Ups, Weighted Pull-Up (load signal), One-Arm Negative. Weighted pull-up captures raw pull strength independent of the lateral-shift skill needed for one-arms.
V-Sit / Manna Calibration — L-Sit Parallel Bars, Modified V-Sit, V-Sit Hold, plus Seated Pike Compression. Compression depth is a flexibility gate for advanced V-Sit and Manna rungs — pure L-sit strength doesn't get you to Manna without the hamstring/hip compression.
Plus the existing four: Handstand, Planche, Front Lever, Back Lever — refreshed to the same principle where relevant.
Why unique tests matter
If you plateau on Manna, the old calibration told you "you're not strong enough". The new one tells you whether you're strength-limited, mobility-limited, or grip-limited — because each test measures a different component. A user who scores high on L-Sit but low on Pike Compression sees Manna gated behind a mobility rung; the app steers them toward compression work instead of grinding more L-sit reps.
Same principle everywhere. Handstand press stuck? Pancake depth gate tells you it's your hips, not your shoulders. Human Flag not progressing? Pole support hold tells you it's grip or obliques, not "you need to be stronger". This is the difference between a training app that tracks numbers and one that actually understands why a movement isn't working.
What else
- All 11 skill families' iOS integration handled server-side — no app update needed to add a new skill in the future, just server-side rung + template authoring.
- Onboarding calibration jump-ahead reads all 42 max signals (universal families + every skill) and seeds initial rungs across the board — a returning user with existing calibration history lands on the right rung on day one.
- Duplicate-slot bug on Skill Practice day fixed — a rung-offset that clamped to the same rung as your main-work slot used to produce two identical exercises; now the resolver dedupes.
What's next
Horizon 2 of the recommendation architecture: retiring experienceLevel as a source of truth (it becomes derived from your rung distribution), and consolidating the level-picker + program-pool + activeSplitKey systems into a single rung-driven engine. Then Horizon 3 wires the skill roadmap directly to session composition — what you see on your roadmap becomes exactly what the app schedules next.
