Your pace
Progress in calisthenics is slow enough that it's easy to stop seeing it. You can't feel the difference between this week and last week, and that's exactly when people decide nothing is happening. v1.58 adds two ways to look back far enough that the change becomes visible: a year at a time, and step by step.
This time last year
Stats › Overview has a new card, right after Recent PRs. If you've been training with ZenMotion for at least a year, and you trained during the same week last year, it shows:
- Up to two ladders where you're higher now than you were then, with the step you were on and the step you're on now, for example "Pike Push-Ups → Pseudo Planche Push-Ups, +2 steps".
- Your best hold gain: your best set on a hold movement that week compared with your best set on the same movement in the last four weeks, for example "8 s → 22 s".
The card only shows what is true and better. If you weren't training that week, or nothing has moved, it simply isn't there. No empty card, no "0 steps".
Tap a row to go further: a skill opens that skill's journey, a family opens its roadmap, and the hold opens the movement's history.
Your pace, step by step
Every skill in Skill progress now has one extra line: how many sessions your last step took.
Open a skill from Stats and there's a Your pace card above the steps. It shows sessions per step for your last six steps as bars, with the latest three highlighted, and a trend:
- Faster: your last three steps took fewer sessions than the three before them.
- Steady: about the same, within 20%.
- Building: they took more. Higher steps take more sessions. That's normal as the movements get harder.
The trend only shows once there are at least four steps to compare. Before that, the card says your pace will appear after a few more steps.
How sessions are counted
A step counts the finished sessions on that skill's training days between reaching the previous step and reaching this one. Steps you got from a calibration test, or that were filled in because a harder skill implies them, don't count as a climb. Only steps you earned in a workout do. We count sessions rather than weeks on purpose: a step that took six sessions took six sessions, whether you trained twice a week or four times.
Challenges you invite people to
When you created a challenge, there used to be a Public toggle. It suggested strangers could find your challenge and join, but there is no place in the app to discover challenges yet, so a public challenge behaved exactly like a private one.
The toggle is gone. Every challenge works by invitation now: you share a link, and anyone with it can join. While nobody else has joined a running challenge, its page shows an Invite people card with a Share link button, so the next step is right there. The Public toggle can come back the day there's somewhere to be discovered.
A real Settings page
Edit Profile had grown into two screens in one: who you are, and how the app behaves. Settings now have their own page under Menu › Preferences › Settings: weight units, the hold timer countdown, Apple Health and the Coach AI narrative.
Edit Profile keeps your name, training days, gear and plan, with one App settings row at the bottom that takes you to the new page. Every saved choice carries over.
A sign-in screen that shows what the app does
The first screen a new user sees used to be a logo and two buttons. It now says what ZenMotion is for (calisthenics skills, one step at a time) and shows an example path toward the planche: two steps done, the next step, and the goal. It's an example, not anyone's data.
The Sign in with Apple and Google buttons now span the screen and grow with large text sizes, and the content above them scrolls, so nothing gets cut off.
Easier to read
Small grey text on Home, in the workout screen and in History was too faint. The rep and second labels next to your sets, the target value in an empty set field (which looked disabled), dates and captions all move to a brighter shade with clear contrast against the dark background.
Available in v1.58.0 on TestFlight now, rolling out to the App Store this week. Feedback welcome at support@zenmotion.app.
